We believe in the existence of angels. They are created (Psalms 148:2,5; Ephesians 3:9-10; Colossians 1:16), spiritual (Matthew 8:16; Luke 8:2; Ephesians 6:12; Hebrews 1:14), personal beings (Mark 8:38; John 8:44; 1 Peter 1:12; Revelation 22:9), and that there exists both good and evil angels (demons). All angels were created holy (Jude 6), that holy angels are those who have remained true to their Creator and are called holy (Mark 8:38), that some did not remain true and chose to follow Lucifer in his rebellion against God and were cast out of heaven to share the same judgment with Lucifer (Satan). Nature/Activities of Holy Angels: We teach that all angels are moral, highly intelligent beings created by God. Angels are God s messengers and mediate God's law (Luke 1:13-20; Acts 7:53; 8:26; 10:3-7; 11:13; 12:7-11; 27:23; Galatians 3:19; Hebrews 2:2). They are the agents of providential oversight observing the lives of believers (1 Corinthians 4:9; 1 Timothy 5:21). They were created a little higher than man (Psalms 8:4; Hebrews 2:7) yet strain in amazement and joy to see the redemption of man (Luke 15:10; 1 Peter 1:12). Activities of Fallen Angels: We believe that fallen angels are referred to in Scripture by various designations: demons, unclean or evil spirits, devils, principalities and powers (Deuteronomy 32:17; Matthew 10:1; Romans 8:38; James 2:19). Demons are the forces of Satan and are actively attempting to thwart the purposes of God in the earth (Revelation 16:14) and in the lives of believers (Ephesians 6:11-12). Satan is the chief of all the demons. He is the father of lies and deception (John 8:44). Though Satan and the demons are powerful, they are already being controlled and judged by God (Luke 10:18; John 12:31; 16:11; Hebrews 2:14; 1 John 3:8). |
