We believe that the next prophetic event in God's program is the premillennial pretribulational rapture of the people of God. After the rapture, the seven year tribulation period will begin. At the end of the tribulation, the people of God will return with Christ who will then set up His Millennial Kingdom on earth. The Rapture: We believe that at some point in the future, unknown to all but the Father, Christ will return to take the saints with Him forever (John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 1:7-8; 15:23; Colossians 3:4; 1 Thessalonians 2:19; 4:13-17; 5:6,23; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; 2 Timothy 4:8; Titus 2:13-14; James 5:8-9; 1 Peter 1:7,13; 1 John 2:28). A more literal approach to Scripture would indicate that the rapture will occur prior to the Great Tribulation (1 Thessalonians 4:16-5:3; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-2). At that moment, Jesus Christ will descend, the dead in Christ will rise first, followed by living believers who will be "caught up together with Him in the air" (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) saving them from the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10). After this event, church-age saints will then give an account for their deeds and receive rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11-15; 2 Corinthians 5:10). The Great Tribulation: We believe that the seven-year tribulation will take place after the rapture of the church. It will be a time of unprecedented conflict upon the earth (Zephaniah 1:14-18; Matthew 24:21; Revelation 4-19). During this time, God's righteous judgment will be poured out against sin and evil doers (Isaiah 2:10-12; 34:8; Jeremiah 30:7; Ezekiel 30:3; Daniel 9:27; Joel 1:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3; 2 Thessalonians 2:7-12; 2 Peter 3:7; Revelation 16). This period will last seven years and will include the 70th week of Daniel's prophecy (Daniel 9:24-27; Matthew 24:15-31; 25:31-46) and will climax when the nations come together and are destroyed by Christ at the battle of Armageddon (Isaiah 24:21-22; Joel 3:2,12; Zephaniah 3:8; Zechariah 14:3; Revelation 19:11-21). The Second Coming: We believe that Christ will return bodily with His saints and will defeat the Anti-Christ at the battle of Armageddon (Revelation 19:11-21) which will mark the end of the Great Tribulation and the beginning His rule of the Millennium Kingdom (Revelation 20:6). The Millennium Kingdom: We believe that in the Millennium Kingdom, Christ will visibly occupy the Throne of David (Matthew 25:31; Luke 1:31-33; Acts 1:10-11; 2:29-30) for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:1-7). During this time the resurrected saints will reign with Him over Israel and all the nations of the earth (Ezekiel 37:21-28; Revelation 19:11-16). This period will be characterized by harmony, holiness, justice, peace, and prosperity (Isaiah 25:6; 26:1,12; 65:21,25; Ezekiel 36:33-38; 47:5; Joel 3:17-18; Amos 9:14; Micah 4:4; Zephaniah 3:11-15,20). Judgment of the Lost: We believe that Satan will be released at the end of 1,000 years to deceive the nations one last time before being thrown into the lake of fire with his allies (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10). The wicked will then be judged for their sins at the Great White Throne Judgment (John 5:29; Revelation 20:11). Because their names are not written in the Lamb's Book of Life, they will be judged by their deeds, resulting in their just condemnation (Revelation 20:12-13). All unbelievers will be committed to conscious, eternal suffering in the Lake of Fire as judgment for their rejection of Christ (Matthew 25:41,46; Mark 9:43-48; Hebrews 10:26-27; 2 Peter 3:7; Revelation 20:14-15). Eternity: We teach that Satan and unbelievers remain in judgment forever, that the redeemed will enter into an eternal state of glory with the Father, that God will replace the old earth with a new earth where only righteousness can dwell (Ephesians 5:5; Revelation 20:15; 21:1-27; 22:1-21). Having fulfilled His redemptive mission, Christ will deliver up the kingdom of God the Father (1 Corinthians 15:24-28), and the triune God will reign forever and ever (1 Corinthians 15:28). |
